Waiheke Island

We met Cat's New Yorker uncle, Paul, in Auckland and decided to go exploring. Still on a high from the opening night of Paul's art show the previous evening and with the sun shining, the exotically titled Waiheke Island was calling our names. We hopped on a ferry and 40 minutes later we were lounging on a beach.

Waiheke is the second largest island in Hauraki Gulf and according to the tourism leaflet 'boasts 92 square kms of beautiful beaches, vineyards, olive groves, art galleries and laid back seaside villages'. It didn't disappoint.

Cuties!

As our adventure drew to a close, I sat on the pier eating ice-cream waiting for the ferry to take us back to Auckland.

It was the perfect island and the perfect day. And I never wanted to leave.
