Rangitoto
For our final day in New Zealand, our little group + Michael decided to visit Rangitoto. We took a 20 minute ferry ride and found ourselves on a mysterious little volcanic island.
Rangitoto is a mystical place with fossilised lava covering the ground, woodlands to stroll through, caves to explore and stunning 360 views.

Our first stop was the lava caves.
With Paul and Michael leading the way and all of us feeling like adventurists we clambered over the rocks following the light at the end of the tunnel. After rejoining the real world, we embarked on the steep and steady ascent up to the top of the volcano.
After a lot of girly huffing and puffing as the boys ran on ahead, we finally reached the top and were greeted with lunch and some spectacular views.
A pretty great last day. I'll miss you, New Zealand.
