Shell Beach

Shell Beach is quite literally a beach of shells.

In fact, it's one of only two beaches on the entire planet that was formed from the shells of a single species of mollusc. Pretty cool, hey?

After a short walk over the undulating shell dunes you reach breathtakingly blue water.

The water is very important here as its high salt level (which is more double the concentration of normal sea water) means that only the mollusc you can find on shore is able to survive in this habitat.

That and the contrast against the white shells makes for a gorgeous sunset.

Only 45 minutes from Denham on the Coral Coast, go at sunset, take some beers and marvel at the beauty of the place.
