Great Barrier Reef
Right at the top of our Australia Bucket Lists was to snorkel the Great Barrier Reef. Port Douglas is the prime position for making the trip out to the reef and so we went out, bought a couple of underwater disposable cameras and jumped on the next boat out of there.
We picked Silversonic and couldn't have been more pleased. We headed out early but with the distraction of breakfast and their undeniably speedy boat, we were at the reef before we knew it. The boat took us to the Agincourt Ribbon which is part of the much less unspoilt outer reef, where the coral meets the Continental Shelf.
As quick as lightning we donned our flippers, masks and stinger suits before leaping into the ocean. From the boat, nothing was out of the ordinary but under the water the sea life was abundant and the coral stretched for miles. We were dropped at three different sites, each one as amazing as the last.
I know it's a bit late now, but we even had time to pop on a very soggy santa hat to wish you all a merry Christmas.
I'm afraid getting the photos online is going to take a lot longer than anticipated so you'll just have to make do with some blurry pictures of us but I'll pop the others on Facebook as soon as I can.
But, basically, it was amazing.
